In European Union, tampons must be made in accordance with the General Product Safety Directive 2001/95/EC which imposes an obligation on manufacturers to produce products that are safe to use. Tampon manufacturers are also organized within the HAPCO group (Hygene Absorbent Producers Committee) of EDANA which coordinates activities of tampon industry among its other tasks. In accordance with EDANA, we abide by the strict principles of the EU Tampon Code of Practice (CoP). Key element of the CoP for tampon manufacturers is an appropriate tampon absorbency level, which is labelled on the package with one to six droplets, denoting the range of absorbency from 6 g to 21 g.
Tosama as tampon manufacturer is a proud owner of quite a few certifications: GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard 2011), PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification 2010), Öko-Tex® 100 Standard (2009), British Retail Consortium (2011, group A), CMDR – Canadian Medical Devices Regulations (2011), FDA – Food and Drug Administration (2008), Original DERMATEST®
